About this trail
Île d'Orléans
Île d'Orléans is an iconic island located in the heart of the Saint Lawrence River, known for its rural character, rich history, and spectacular views. Surrounded by water, it offers a peaceful atmosphere where agricultural fields, orchards, heritage villages, and open viewpoints over the river and the city of Québec succeed one another.
Circling the island allows you to discover a great diversity of landscapes: tranquil shores, tree-lined roads, cultivated lands, and ancestral homes. The circular route is approximately 67 km and passes through several villages with distinct charm, each offering its own ambiance, historic churches, and typical small roads. The terrain is slightly hilly, making the course accessible while remaining interesting for athletes.
The island is also renowned for its local products. Along the way, you will encounter farms, orchards, vineyards, cheese factories, and local artisans, showcasing a craftsmanship passed down through generations. The seasons completely transform the experience: in spring, greenery comes to life; in summer, fields and fruits abound; in autumn, vibrant colors provide an exceptional backdrop.
Combining nature, culture, and tradition, Île d'Orléans is an ideal place for a sporting or contemplative outing, whether for an active long loop or a more leisurely exploration at the pace of the landscapes and the river.
